What is the Safe and Secure Skies Commission?
The Aviation industry is in Crisis. Major changes need to occur to keep the industry safe and secure. Workers in aviation are joining the TWU from right across the industry: cabin crew, pilots, security staff, ground handlers, caterers, refuellers and more. We are serving claims on Australia’s airports to demand better and to hold them to account!
The TWU is fighting for a safe and secure aviation industry that will lift standards for all aviation workers. We are ensuring that wealthy airports are held account and pay their workers a fair wage.
The TWU’s Safe and Secure Skies Commission is what the aviation industry needs to put an end the unfair, unsafe and unsecure conditions the workers currently face, by giving workers, passengers and regional Australia a powerful voice.
The commission would ensure:
Safe and fair standards for all workers;
Supply chain participants, including airlines and airports, are responsible for safe and fair supply chains;
Commercial, economic, and contracting pressures and incentives that can lead to unsafe and unfair practices are removed;
Efficient and effective dispute resolution across the supply chain, including unfair contracts and unfair contract terminations; and
Strong collective representation for all workers.
