These guideline rates are provided to assist Prime Contractors to negotiate with Sub Contractors in relation to safe sustainable rates. As part of this process it is recognised that fuel is an extremely volatile cost component and needs to be regularly reviewed. The figures here represent rates for "typical" operations and there could be significant variations in rates required for sustainable operations depending upon a range of variables including kilometres travelled, fuel efficiency and loads.
Fuel levies will vary significantly as they are based on percentage change for the cost of fuel against total operating costs which will vary from company to company. In all instances the Prime Contractor and the Subcontractor are responsible for negotiating a rate in accordance with the Trade Practices Act.
