Veterans of the trucking industry have recently been visiting schools to promote road safety messages to students.
Linfox recently donated a truck and trailer to our veterans who conduct school visits to speak with students, who are getting their licences, about mitigating heavy vehicles on our roads.
Pictured here left to right, Bruce “Sproga” Spaul, Barry (driver), Danny Hill, Wally Rusich, Steve Curtis (TWU) and Graham Robinson.
These drivers have spent thousands of hours behind the wheel of trucks and are passing that knowledge of the road on young people.
Including information like truck blind spots, overtaking heavy vehicles and stopping distances.
This was part of the first pilot of the program and was a resounding success. The program will be taken into more schools in early 2020.
If you would like to get involved in the program or know of any schools that would like to hear from these Veterans, please don’t hesitate to contact us at info@twuwa.org.au
The flyer at this link is downloadable and available to present to your Parent & Teacher Committees for consideration.
