Some Good Wins at CEVA

« Back to News Articles Some Good Wins at CEVA

Transport and Logistics firm CEVA has maintained its reputation as one of the better freight firms to work for thru a new pay and conditions agreement it has struck with the TWU.

Our members' pay packets will be boosted by 14.25% during the life of the four-year deal.

And superannuation payments will increase to 12.25% by the end of the agreement.

Another improvement involves the 17.5% annual leave loading which will now be paid on all leave.

Previously, if you hadn't accumu-lated a full 12 months leave you didn't get the loading - now you will!

The TWU has also persuaded the company to improve its redundancy provisions.

If employees are made redundant they will be paid 3 years for each year of service.

And there will be a further four-week's pay for them if they work until the end of the nominated contract date.

At this stage there are no lay-offs on the horizon but the TWU likes to be prepared in case things change.

Another win involves labour hire casuals. CEVA will ensure they are paid no less than the award rate plus 10%.

I believe we have done very well in a slowing economy and I'd like to thank those TWU members who have supported our campaign.

It's unfortunate that there are still quite a few of your workmates who continue to take all the benefits we win but avoid paying union dues.

Please help us encourage the freeloaders to be part of your union.

Thanks to Scott Wood who flew over for all the meetings and Jason Connolly, our delegate at Jandakot.
