Mighty Linfox Deal

« Back to News Articles Mighty Linfox Deal

We've just knocked over the last of the big boys with Linfox coming to terms with us on a new four-year agreement.

The important agreement covers Linfox employees at 14 of their operations throughout WA.

And were proud to say we've managed to keep our Linfox members at those depots at the top of the league table when it comes to pay and conditions.

The negotiations were seemingly endless but I was fortified by the excellent backing from our WA bargaining reps.

The delegates who flew east with me for the talks were Daryl Walker, Mick Cooke, and Geoff Raymond.

I'm proud to say the WA contingent was not backward in voicing their opinions. And they knew they had the full support of all the boys and girls back home in all Linfox depots.

Given the slowing economy we had our eyes well and truly focussed on job security but our members need money to pay the bills too!

Linfox expressed concerns about their need to remain competitive and we understand they don't want to be priced out of the market.

But by the time we got to talking about money we had worn them down a bit.

To their credit Linfox matched their major competitor Toll and getting them to that point was our objective.

A fantastic outcome added to what we achieved last time round.

Over the past few years we've managed to put some serious dollars into our members’ pockets.

The new four-year deal includes:

  • Pay rises of 4%+4%+3% plus two six monthly rises of 2%+2% in the final year.
  • Superannuation to rise to 13.5% by the end of the agreement in 2017. Or at least 3% above, whatever the government guarantee is by then.

Thanks again to the delegates and members for their strong support

THE ONLY NEGATIVE: I still find it hard to believe there are still freeloaders in Linfox depots.

These people bludgeon TWU members who pay their fees.

They should be ashamed of themselves and they need to be told to start paying their way.
