Cyclists and Heavy Vehicles

« Back to News Articles

I thought it was time I put pen to paper and admitted I was as guilty as anyone else who thought there was nothing to worry about when the shit hits the fan about push bikes on our roads.

The cyclists asked that it be law that vehicles be given a one metre clearance when passing cyclists. I am a reasonable man and thought that sounded fair.

Next thing there’s talk on sections of the media that they should be allowed 1.5 metres.

Piss off! Why not make us give them a full lane. They may as well make us drop our pants and give it to us it up the date.

I drive large coaches and normally turning onto Welshpool Road off Tonkin Hwy is not a problem.

Pass a push bike or two, still no problem.

Stop at the next set of red lights and those same champion cyclists ride straight past you on your left side and stop at the lights.

Traffic takes off and all us heavy vehicles get held up causing traffic problems until we can move over to pass the Tour de France wannabees again.

Get to the next set of lights and we all try it, move to the left so they can’t pass and they either jump the kerb or go around the other side.

All heavy vehicles are suffering the same problem so how can it be fixed, personally I say f#@k the tossers.

If a heavy vehicle passes them and is held up at the next set of lights, then they should have to wait behind that vehicle just like the cars have to.

This will reduce traffic problems with heavy vehicles caused by inconsiderate, self-opinionated f..kwits on pedal power and less bikes will be in accidents.

So if you agree, write a small note to the Wheel Editor, “PUSH BIKES, F#@K THEM”
